Frequently asked questions

What is window film?

Window film is a thin, high-quality material applied directly to glass to provide privacy, decoration, solar control or both. It softens the look of glass and can transform a window’s appearance without the need for heavy coverings like blinds or curtains.

Can decorative window film be applied to any type of glass?

Our decorative and privacy films are designed to adhere to smooth, non-textured glass surfaces — including standard and double-glazed units. They cannot be applied to textured or severely patterned glass as the surface irregularities prevent proper adhesion.

How do you apply window film?

Applying window film is a simple DIY process. A solution of soapy water is sprayed onto clean glass, the film is positioned, and then smoothed with a tool (like a squeegee) to remove excess water and bubbles. Detailed installation instructions are supplied with every order.

What tools do I need for installation?

All you need for best results is a spray bottle with clean water, a mild detergent or soapy mix, and a soft-edge squeegee or smoothing tool. These tools help position and set the film smoothly on the glass.

How long will window film last?

High-quality decorative and privacy window films are designed to be durable and long-lasting. While longevity depends on conditions and handling, films of this type often remain effective for many years with proper care, and in many cases can exceed typical warranty periods offered by suppliers.

Can window film be removed?

Yes. Our films — particularly static cling options — can be removed cleanly without damaging the glass or leaving adhesive residue. This makes them ideal for rental properties, temporary projects or evolving interiors.

Can I see through window film?

The level of visibility depends on the film you choose. Frosted and patterned films obscure detailed views while allowing light to pass through. In most cases, objects near the glass may appear as shapes or shadows, but clear views through the window are significantly reduced.

Does window film provide privacy at night?

Window film helps maintain privacy, but when interior lights are on and it is dark outside, silhouetted shapes may still be visible depending on the lighting conditions. Frosted or patterned designs provide more consistent privacy than reflective films, which are more effective in daylight conditions.

Is your window film suitable for bathrooms?

Yes. Frosted and patterned privacy films are particularly suited to bathrooms because they allow natural light while reducing visibility. Ensure the film is applied to smooth, flat glass for best results.

Will window film work on double-glazed units?

Yes. Our films are compatible with standard double-glazed windows and should be applied on the interior surface. If you have specialist glazing (such as low-E or coated glass), please contact us for guidance.

How do I measure my window for a made to measure film?

Measure the visible glass area — not the frame — in centimetres for accuracy. Measure width and height at several points and use the largest measurement to ensure a neat fit. If you’re unsure, you can send us a photo and measurements for advice.

How do I clean window film?

To clean your film, use a soft cloth with warm, soapy water. Avoid abrasive tools or harsh chemicals, which can damage the surface. Gentle annual cleaning is usually sufficient for most installations.

Do you ship worldwide?

Yes. Our decorative and privacy window films are designed in the UK and shipped internationally. Shipping times vary by destination.
